Christ Shown to the People (Ecce Homo). Christ is presented by Pilate on a platform to a group of people. This print is part of a series of 16 prints depicting scenes from the Passion. A copy after the original by Dürer. Made by an anonymous engraver after Albrecht Durer. Medium: Engraving on hand laid (verge) paper. Sheet size: 7.5 x 11.8 cm (2.95 x 4.65 inch). Biography artist: Albrecht Durer (1471-1528), sometimes spelled in English as Durer, was a German painter, printmaker, and theorist of the German Renaissance. Born in Nuremberg, Dürer established his reputation and influence across Europe in his twenties due to his high-quality woodcut prints. He was in contact with the major Italian artists of his time, including Raphael, Giovanni Bellini, and Leonardo da Vinci, and from 1512 was patronized by Emperor Maximilian I.
