Description

An uncommon oil on canvas of a priest and nun interceding for the souls in purgatory with angels above, 17th century Italian School. Old chalk notation of Filippo Tarchiani, being sold as follower of as more research is needed. Note the skull at the base of the cross pointing to Golgotha and as a reminder of death. Old chalk inventory/Collection marks and auction lot marks. Good condition overall with canvas being relined and cleaned, scattered areas of in painting, craquelure. and small areas of paint loss.
